Elmina Castle @ Elmina, Central Region
Elmina Castle, located in Elmina, Central Region, is another significant historical site in Ghana. Built by the Portuguese in 1482, it was the first European slave-trading post in sub-Saharan Africa. Like Cape Coast Castle, Elmina Castle played a major role in the transatlantic slave trade.
